Alexander Pope and Jonathon Swift both have their minds made up about women during this time period. I both of their works they disrespect women in many ways. Both poems are written in couplets. Swift is harsh and to the point about how he feels regarding women. He has a very aggressive tone in the way that he is writing and has zero respect for anything that a women does. He feels they are useless means to society and good for nothing. Pope, although has the same feelings towards women as Swift does, he beats around the bush a little more as to how he is really feeling. Pope's poem is a little more words and not as harsh. Pope is not completely denouncing the sex, but rather saying that men are most definitly superior. If these two egotistical writers were writing in today's day and age, they would be ridiculed and harrassed for their writings to the point where they probably would not be writing anymore.
